What does the latest labor proposal from MLB actually mean?
The league has adjusted how and when it wants to add a salary cap, but the issue remains a nonstarter for the players' union
begins. Teams, in theory, would be more willing to commit dollars and trade players if they know what they're looking at for 2027 and will have a grace period to adjust to the cap. Whether that actually happens, though, is anybody's guess. [...] The league might view their revised cap and floor figures as a bargaining concession, a good faith ceding of ground, but the union most certainly does not. The MLBPA has steadfastly opposed a salary cap throughout its entire existence and has shown no signs of relenting during the current round of negotiations.
That's one thing that did not change on Tuesday.
